HALESTORM Bassist Interviewed In Cardiff (Video)
March 16, 2013BRfm, a community radio station serving Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale, Nantyglo and surrounding areas of Blaenau Gwent in south Wales, conducted an interview with bassist Josh Smith of HALESTORM on March 10 in Cardiff. You can now watch the chat below.
Fan-filmed video footage of HALESTORM performing cover versions of "Dissident Aggressor" (JUDAS PRIEST) and "Straight Through The Heart" (DIO) on March 11 in Nottingham, England can be seen below. Both tracks are expected to appear on the band's upcoming EP of cover songs, which was recently recorded and is tentatively due later in the year. The group issued its first set of remakes, "Reanimate", in 2011.
"Reanimate" contained covers of tracks from SKID ROW, LADY GAGA and GUNS N' ROSES. Singer Lzzy Hale told The Pulse Of Radio that recording other artists' songs helps her own writing. "There's just nothing like singing and playing and picking apart an already proven amazing song," she said. "I think it helps you as a songwriter. I'll write a song and be like, 'Well, is that as good as HEART's 'All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You', and I'll have to be like, 'No, back to the drawing board.'"
HALESTORM was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, which was held on February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. HALESTORM was nominated for the track "Love Bites (So Do I)" , from the band's 2012 album "The Strange Case Of…" The group was up against ANTHRAX, IRON MAIDEN, LAMB OF GOD, MARILYN MANSON and MEGADETH in the category.
